Which way is your career going?
Do you spend your weekdays watching the clock? Are your weekends too short and your Sunday evenings darkened by dread? If so, it may be time to hand in your notice. Being happy at work is more important than you think. The average person in the UK spends eight hours a day, five days a week at work. Also, thanks to the ever extending retirement age, most Britons will spend the majority of their lives working.
Boredom, bad bosses and unrealistic workloads can start to take a toll on your life, in and out of the office. At Stonebridge, we believe you shouldn’t have to put up with this. This is why we have collated a list of four telltale signs which signal it’s time for a new job. If you can relate to one or more of these, then maybe it’s time to start handing out CVs.
1. You are gaining weight
If you’re stressed during the day, you’re more likely to make unhealthy food choices. Snacking becomes essential to get through the day and a microwave meal is all you have the energy for when dinner comes around.
2. Your mental health has been affected
If you dread getting out of bed every morning, then you may be at risk of depression, or anxiety. It’s very easy to fall down a mental hole if work is taking its toll on you.
3. Your job is taking a toll on your relationships
You might think that you don’t take out your stress on other people, but we bet that’s not true. Do you find yourself snapping at your partner or relatives, or giving up your social life because you’re too frazzled to leave the house?
4. You can’t relax
If you’re dreading Monday, then weekends stop being fun. Checking emails at night, or staying awake worrying about something you forgot to do, will ensure that days off aren’t days off anymore.
What can you do about it?
Most people spend around 90,000 hours working in their lifetime, so isn’t it worth finding something you enjoy? At Stonebridge, we think so. That’s why we offer qualifications that will get you out of the office, or doing something you love.
The good news is that it’s never too late to change your career. You don’t need to follow anyone else’s rules either. Many of our graduates go on to start their own business and become their own boss.
Stonebridge courses are flexible, affordable and fun. You can study from home, there’s no pressure to meets deadlines and you’ll get all the support you need from an expert tutor.
