The Importance of an Awarding Body

The function of an independent Ofqual approved awarding body working in conjunction with Stonebridge is essential. We have always welcomed this partnership as it ensures that the relevance, quality and acceptability of our courses and RQF qualifications are consistently top class. In effect, the awarding body’s accreditation becomes a stamp of quality for you, the student.

Our New Awarding Body

Following NCFE's announcement to cease endorsing courses in our numerous sectors of distance learning, we have been approached by several other awarding bodies wishing to take up this important function on our behalf.

We have undertaken extensive research and given our critical attention and acute care in choosing the correct awarding body to partner with going forward. We are delighted to announce that a fundamental partnership has now been agreed between ourselves and the highly respected ABC Awards which will ensure the continued quality and recognition of our courses.

ABC is a leading, national awarding organisation with a long-established reputation for developing and awarding high-quality vocational qualifications. As a registered charity and part of the renowned EMFEC Group, which celebrated its centenary in 2012, ABC offers a comprehensive portfolio of over 600 Ofqual regulated qualifications covering a total of 12 industry sectors. All these qualifications have been developed with the support of relevant stakeholders to make absolutely sure that they meet the standards of industries across the UK.

What This Means for You

This means that your new ABC Awards Certificate of Achievement will give you:

• A Certificate of Achievement that is issued from an Ofqual approved awarding body that may be used as evidence of knowledge and skills towards regulated qualifications in the future
• A full learner unit summary to accompany your certificate that can be used as evidence towards Recognition of Prior Learning if you wish to progress your studies in this sector
• The skills you need to find and progress in employment
• A solid base of knowledge and understanding on which to build further.

Other distance learning providers currently working with NCFE will also be choosing a new awarding body, some of which may be less experienced in this critical function for distance learning, and some of which have experience in awarding only in a limited number of sectors.
