This month it’s National Stress Awareness Month and we have gathered five ways to help you de-stress at work – you can thank us later!
Our working life makes up a huge part of our week and with increasing pressure on staff to perform and hit deadlines, it’s no wonder we all feel a little bit stressed.
Whether it’s keeping on top of your expenses or meeting that all important deadline, each person has different things that stress them out. No matter how big or small, you’re certainly not alone.
The good news is, taking little steps to de-stress and create a more organised workplace can make all the difference, because let’s face it – nobody wants to wake up in the middle of the night worrying about spreadsheets.
Follow our five top tips and help beat any work related stress:
1.Get in early.
It sounds simple enough, but making the effort to get in to work 10-15 minutes earlier means you have time to make a drink and plan out your day before the morning rush (and it shows your dedication!)
2.Make a list.
Trust us, there is no greater satisfaction than ticking items off your list to motivate you and help demonstrate your own productivity.
3.Start with the most important.
It might be tempting to get a few less important tasks done first, however begin with the most important (you’re more productive in the morning) and then prioritise based on timeline.
4.Reclaim your lunch break.
Notice the emphasis on ‘your’ – statistics show that over 70% of employees in the UK don’t take a full lunch break. Make sure you do. It boosts your mood, productivity and it’s healthy to get some fresh air and a change of scenery.
5. Tidy your desk.
You know the saying ‘tidy desk, tidy mind’ – it works. Knowing where everything is can save you time and ensure those all-important notes you made at the end of the day don’t get lost under a stack of papers tomorrow.
