Professional Dog Groomer – Daiga Kraukle
Daiga Kraukle has been around dogs all of her life. Caring for them is a real passion which began from taking a keen interest in different dog breeds, from an early age.
She lives and works in Keady, a village in County Armagh, Northern Ireland and is the proud owner of Happy Doggies.
Daiga offers a range of dog care services targeted to the local Keady area but she’s also willing to travel further away to meet demand, even to Belfast.
Daiga enjoyed dog grooming and understood why it’s so important for her dogs’ health and well-being. She quickly realised too, how much time and effort it can initially take to keep a canine companion looking good.
A little help from a practised professional can be much appreciated. After lots of experience growing up with family dogs, such as Golden Retrievers, German Sheppards, Yorkshires Terriers and Jack Russels – she began grooming and training her own dogs at home.
Enrolling on Stonebridge’s online Dog Grooming Professional Course galvanised her decision to continue learning and carve out a career in which she is now truly fulfilled and happy.
Daiga is a Golden Retriever fanatic– she has three of them (Tintin, Goldie and Hera) and a Yorkshire Terrier called Zany.
Few breeds are as playful, eager to please, and devoted as the Golden Retriever. They’ll get on well with people, other animals and are ideal for young children to play fetch with.
Her dogs are happiest when going on their daily walks, mucking about with other dogs and fetching a stick – swimming is another favourite activity.
Daiga’s Golden Retrievers shed quite a lot and they need to be brushed and combed a few times a week. They also have two coats. The first one is a fine fur that is close to the skin and provides warmth during the winter.
The second coat is used as a water repellent – this allows the dogs to dry off quickly after a nice swim. One of Daiga’s skills as dog grooming professional, is to be able to look at an individual breed; know the type of coat the dog has in order to trim and take care of it.
In the beginning Daiga worked from home and visited clients in their own homes. Eventually she found the perfect location to open up her own dog grooming salon and shop, named Happy Doggies.
She now works Monday to Saturday offering a varied section of pet supplies in her shop and friendly professional services such as grooming, pet sitting, dog training, and dog walking.
We caught up with Daiga to see how she’s progressing after graduation.
