Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a form of talking therapy that aims to help people manage mental or physical health problems. Commonly used to treat depression and anxiety, it allows the patient to identify and break down patterns of negative behaviour, whilst offering tactics on how to approach these patterns in a more positive way, and ultimately change them.
If you have a keen interest in talking therapies and want to make a difference to the lives of others, this Cognitive Behavioural Therapy training course is the perfect starting point. It will introduce you to key concepts such as basic counselling skills, psychotherapy, practical methods of CBT, along with how CBT specifically addresses depression, anxiety, bipolar personality disorders and anger management.
If you’re considering cognitive behavioural therapy as a career, this course acts as the perfect introduction. It will give you a detailed understanding of CBT, and the methods used, so you can ensure this is a career you want to pursue. If you’re already working as a professional therapist or coach, this course is also an ideal way for you to add CBT methods to part of your practice.
Please note that this is a knowledge-based course, so it will not qualify you as a cognitive behavioural therapist. It is intended as the ideal introduction to cognitive behavioural therapy, so you can make an educated decision as to whether this career path is the right one for you.
Once you complete all the learning units and assignments you will have a good understanding of what cognitive behavioural therapy involves and you will have the skills to apply it when counselling your future clients, or even when helping your friends and family.
You can complement your studies with other counselling courses, such as Counselling Skills (RQF) Level 3, Stress Counselling in the Workplace, or prepare for a university degree with an Access to HE Diploma in Social Sciences with a psychology pathway.
However, if you want to start work straight away, your understanding of this talking therapy will help you secure a number of entry-level roles in this space. These roles generally involve supporting qualified therapists or working in administrative or research capacities, rather than directly delivering CBT therapy.
These can include:
On successful completion of your course, you will receive a Stonebridge Associated Colleges Certificate of Completion.
Your course certificate will also state the number of CPD points/hours the course is eligible for.
There is no experience or previous qualifications required for enrolment on this course. It is available to all students, of all academic backgrounds.
All course fees, inclusive of all payment plans including our Premium Credit Limited option, must be settled before certification can be ordered.
*You will have access to the course for 24 months.

The Quality Licence Scheme endorsement involves robust and rigorous quality audits by external auditors to ensure quality is continually met. A review of courses is carried out as part of the endorsement process.
