About your Course

This level 3 award in feline care, behaviour and welfare teaches you how to work safely with felines in a professional setting such as a cattery.

It will teach you about the common diseases that can affect their health. As well as ways to check their health, prevent disease transmission and maintain their health during your care.

You’ll also learn about feline psychology and behaviour, so you can spot external factors potentially impacting on behaviour. Helping you to manage stress and aggression and ensure the cat has as pleasant a time as possible. The human-feline bond will also be explored, to understand how this can affect feline behaviour.

If you want to work with cats in a care or cattery setting, this course can equip you for employment and open up opportunities for further study.

Upon completion of this unit you will:

  • Understand the causes of feline diseases
  • Understand feline welfare in catteries
  • Know how to provide environmental enrichment in feline care
  • Understand the effective administration of medications to felines

Unit 2: Feline Behaviour and Psychology

Upon completion of this unit you will:

  • Understand communication behaviour in felines
  • Know the learning theory that is used in feline training
  • Understand psychological factors that contribute to feline behaviour
  • Understand physiological factors that contribute to feline behaviour
  • Understand the impact of the feline-human relationship on feline behaviour

You will be required to create and submit a portfolio of evidence to earn your qualification.
